For every deck you send

See who read it, page by page.

Every deck you send comes with a reading report: who opened it and when, how long they were active on each page, how far they scrolled and where they stopped. See new readers when your link is shared further.

A reading report for the Aurora Robotics seed round deck: three readers and four visits, the last one 2 hours ago. Sarah Chen read to the end, David Park stopped at page 4, and Emma Fischer stopped at page 3 on her phone.

Who opened it

Every visit, on one timeline.

Each visit lands on a timeline with the time, an approximate location, the device and the reading language, and every visit is numbered. When someone comes back, you see the second visit on its own line, so a return never hides inside a total. Readers are labelled by how they got in: anonymous on an open link, the email they entered, or a verified email when they used a code.

  • A time stamp and a visit number for every visit
  • Approximate city and country, estimated from the connection
  • Laptop, tablet or phone, and the reading language
  • Your own previews and link scanners are left out of reading data, and readers on open links are counted by device
Example timeline of four visits. Monday 09:12, Sarah Chen, first visit, approximately Berlin, Germany, on a laptop in English. Monday 15:26, David Park, a new reader on the same link, approximately London, United Kingdom, on a laptop in English. Today 08:47, Sarah Chen, second visit, approximately Berlin, on a tablet in English. Today 10:05, Emma Fischer, first visit, approximately Munich, Germany, on her phone in English.

Active time on every page

See which page held them longest.

Decktrace measures the active time on each page of every read. The page that held them longest stands out, so you know which part of your story landed.

Active time Sarah Chen spent on each of the seven pages: Cover 0:18, Traction 2:05, the longest, Market 0:52, Product 1:10, Team 0:34, The ask 1:01 and Contact 0:12, for 6 minutes 12 seconds in total.

Scroll depth

How far they read.

Inside every page, Decktrace records how far down each reader scrolled. On a phone a page reflows into one long column, so you can see whether they reached the end of it.

Scroll depth. On a phone each page reflows into one long column. Emma stopped 62% of the way down Market. Emma Fischer stopped on page 3, Market, on her phone. She scrolled to the bottom of Cover and Traction, and 62% of the way down Market. She did not read pages 4 to 7.
Interaction heatmaps add every visit to a page together, so you see where readers looked and clicked, for example around the growth number on Traction. A preview of the heatmap over page 2, Traction, from 4 visits by 3 readers: the hottest spot sits on the 3.4 times revenue growth number, then on 99.6% pick accuracy, the growth label and 40 warehouses live.

Where they stopped

Find the page where they left.

Follow each reader through the deck and see the last page they reached. When readers leave at the same place, you know which page to fix before your next send.

How far each reader got through the seven pages. All three readers reached pages 1 to 3, two reached page 4 and one reached pages 5 to 7. Sarah Chen read to the end, David Park stopped at page 4, Product, and Emma Fischer stopped at page 3, Market.

Second visits and new readers

Know when they come back, and when someone new joins.

A second visit shows they came back to it. When your link is shared further, a new reader appears in your report with their own visit, pages and times. Decktrace numbers every visit, so a return never hides inside a total.

Sarah Chen has opened the deck twice: Monday at 09:12 and today at 08:47. David Park is a new reader on the same link: he opened it on Monday at 15:26 and stopped at page 4 after 1 minute 40 seconds.

Email alerts

Hear when a reader asks.

Get an email each time a reader asks a question on any page, so you can answer while it is fresh. Reading alerts, such as a reader coming back or stopping early, are coming soon.

Three example email alerts on a phone lock screen, each telling you a reader asked a question: page 3 of Aurora Robotics, page 2 of Brightlane and page 5 of Atlas Freight.

Questions

Reader analytics, answered.

Everyone who opens your deck link shows up in your reading data, with the pages they read and the active time on each one. How a reader is labelled depends on how they got in: anonymous on an open link, the email they entered with email and password, or a verified email with an email code. Your own previews and link scanners are left out, and readers on open links are counted by device.

A new reader appears in your reading data with a visit of their own: the pages they read, the active time on each page and their device. They are labelled the same way as any other reader, by how they got in.

Yes. Your deck reflows for phones and tablets, and a read on a small screen is measured the same way: the visit, the active time and scroll depth on each page, and the page where they stopped. The report shows which screen each reader used.

Reader noticeReaders see a short notice about what is measured.

The exact rules, including the wording of the notice, are being set together with our privacy policy. We will publish the details before launch.

Export is coming soon. We plan to let you export reader activity, such as visits and active time on each page, for your own records and tools. Formats are not settled yet. We will publish the details before launch.
